I have always wanted to paint.
For as long as I can remember, creating images and capturing moments has been my passion. As a child, it didn’t matter if I used crayons or pencils, I looked at things differently even then. When my teacher asked me to paint a tree, I painted three different ones. For me, art was a pure expression of what I was beginning to notice in my life.
Today, after raising two daughters, I am blessed to devote all of my time to painting and teaching others. I either paint every day or prepare for what I am going to paint, by manipulating images on my computer. I use my computer like a sketchbook, helping me to transform the pictures I take into the piece I want to paint.
This is my joy. Painting is my way of working through thoughts and issues and sometimes releasing what troubles me. Yet, what you see on the canvas, these are the moments I most want to remember and celebrate: the strength of a cowboy, the beauty of the desert, the warm embrace of a mother, the free spirit of a child. The innocence, humor and positive nature of people are what I most want to paint.
